There was an excellent dye studio at the Textile Center in Bloduos. One day I decided to try dyeing some mordanted linen fabric with two kinds of seaweed that washed up on the beach.
From Sarah's earlier experiment I did not have high hopes for great color but I thought that I would likely not have another opportunity to play in the dye pots with seaweed any time soon. I heated the jammed dye pots to boiling and turned them off to cool three different times. There was color but nothing too exciting. You can see that I turned white linen into two shades close to natural linen colors. The red seaweed made a grayer shade. They make nice light neutrals. The rule for natural dyeing is to love what you get.
A more exciting dye pot was the exhaust dye from buckthorn berries that had already been used by Sarah and Laura to dye some wool yarns and fleece, yielding beautiful color. I dyed linen cloth. . I love the citron color.
